Baby Jet Airways to start operation in February………..The Deputy Minister of Aviation, Kwabena Otchere Darko has revealed that the Captain of Ghana Blackstars, Asamoah Gyan’s airline, Jet Airways will start operation in February 2019.

The Deputy Minister was speaking on airlines which are operating in Ghana currently to boost the tourism in the country when he mentioned that more airlines will be in operation aside from the existing two airlines currently operating by the close of 2019.

The minister explained that Jet Airways and a few others are going through the process and by the end of the year 2019, Ghana will have about 5 airlines operating in the country.

Hon. Kwabena Otchere Darko, Deputy Minister of Aviation said:

“This year, we are looking at new operational areas that will bring in more customers or tourists, so, we are linking more of our projects with the tourist centres,” adding that, “apart from Passion Air, we also have Unity Air now operating, and we are expecting Baby Jet Airlines, which will be on stream by next month, and we have others also going through the processes, so, at least, we should have about five by close of the year

Asamoah Gyan secured the license to operate the airline in 2018 but failed to obtain the Air Operator Certificate to officially start operations.

This was because Jet Airways management could not fulfill the requirement in the areas of business operation manuals, aircraft acquisition, crew, and management information.

However, all those requirements have now been met and permission has been given to the Airlines to start operation.
